Jack Black is full of surprises.
With a little assistance from Jack Black, Foo Fighters paid homage to one of the greatest rock bands.
Dave Grohl and the Foos returned to Australia and New Zealand on Saturday, January 20, at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium, following a month-long hiatus.
The band has been paying tribute to the late Bon Scott of AC/DC by performing a cover of one of their more controversial rock songs, Big Balls, throughout this time in Australia.
Rolling Stone reports that the Foo Fighters often call on their drum tech, Fiona Jeans, to deliver Scott’s satirical lines about hosting extravagant parties, or the so-called big balls.
However, Jeans brought along a surprise guest for the Saturday show: Jack Black.
The 54-year-old actor and singer chose to add his rock vigour to the performance while filming the forthcoming Minecraft movie in New Zealand.
In concert footage captured by fans, Black is seen dancing to the opening line of the song while sporting a tie-dyed top with a rising phoenix and matching shorts.
“I’m upper-upper class high society,” they sing ahead of giving the mic to Black, who adds how they’re “God’s gift to ballroom notoriety.”
Jeans takes back over, singing “always fill my ballroom / The event is never small / The social pages say Jack’s got / The biggest balls of all.”
Black encouraged the crowd to sing along to the chorus, bringing out the rock fervour he typically saves for performances with his band, Tenacious D. The fans went home delighted after having an unexpected and amazing rock experience.
