Joey King is brimming with love and pride for her old-friend and colleague Sabrina Carpenter.
Over the weekend, the Kissing Booth star, 24, attended Carpenter’s Governers Ball performance, finally breaking a years-long streak of being unable to attend her shows.
She later told People Magazine, “Yesterday is the first time I’ve seen her perform in a few years because every time that I wanted to go to one of her big shows, out schedules just kind of miss each other.”
King then continued to rave about the Espresso hitmaker, with whom she shares a Disney background.
“I literally was sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She’s just amazing,” King gushed.
“I’m so happy for her,” she further expressed, adding that she is obsessed with Carpenter’s new music video for her song, Please, Please, Please, featuring Carpenter’s new beau, Barry Keoghan.
“It’s so rude of her to make a hit like that. It’s also so rude to make such an addicting music video,” King joked, adding that she played the music video “six times at 2:00 a.m. when [she wants] to go to bed.”
King and Carpenter’s friendship goes way back, though they didn’t become close friends until years later.
During Wired’s Most Searched Questions segment in 2020, King revealed that she met Carpenter at a charity event years ago, but they would only meet about once a year.
“We don’t know why it took us so long to become friends,” she added.
